Problem: "The Shopping Cart doesn't work right!"

Description: We occasionally receive reports from a few customers saying that they are unable to place more than one item in their shopping cart at a time.

Cause: Like most others, our shopping cart uses browser cookies (see below) to keep track of your shopping cart session. If our web server cannot read or write to the cookie on your computer, it assumes a new shopping cart session has started, thus starting you over with an empty cart. The only reason you will not be able to place more than one item in your cart is that your browser is not accepting our cookies.

    What's a Cookie? (from Microsoft.com)

A very small text file placed on your hard drive by a Web Page server. It is essentially your identification card, and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you.

Solution: There are several issues that can cause this problem:

1. Make sure your browser is accepting cookies. You can find this setting in the Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced section of Internet Explorer. Be sure you "always allow session cookies." Cookies cannot harm your computer, and unauthorized websites cannot view any personal information from them.
2. Make sure your cookie security is not too high. By default, IE 6.0 is set at Medium security, which is too high for many sites. You may need to set your cookie security to Low. This setting can also be found in the Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced section of IE.
3. Clear your Cookies. By default, web browsers can only accept a certain amount of cookies. Try clearing them out. This setting can be found in the Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced section of IE. Click on the [Delete Cookies] button.
4. You have an out-of-date web browser. Some early versions of Internet Explorer, for example, did not support browser cookies. Cookies are an essential part of the internet, and we highly recommend upgrading your browser. If the above settings adjustments don't work, you should visit Microsoft.com and download the latest version of Internet Explorer.
